Celebrating Excellence: MRPD Government College, Talwara – A Journey from Student to Social Change Maker

As I reflect on my journey as an alumnus of MRPD Government College, Talwara, it fills me with immense pride to share my experience and the transformative role this institution has played in shaping my career and character. Standing today before the NAAC team, esteemed faculty members, and my dear fellow students, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for everything this college has provided me.

Nestled amidst the serene foothills of the Shivalik range, MRPD Government College has served as a beacon of hope for over 700 villages, stretching from Daulatpur to Dasuya. This institution has been more than just a place of learning; it has been a hub of holistic development, skill enhancement, and community engagement for countless students like myself.

A Legacy of Excellence

Over the last four decades, MRPD Government College has been dedicated to shaping young minds and preparing them for the challenges of the outside world. This institution’s impact stretches far beyond academics, creating well-rounded individuals who excel in leadership, social responsibility, and personal development.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the college has integrated skill-based learning into its curriculum, ensuring that students are well-prepared for real-world demands. By offering courses that focus on practical knowledge and financial sustainability, MRPD Government College has become a pioneer in adapting to the evolving educational landscape.

My Journey at MRPD Government College

Reflecting on my five-year journey at MRPD Government College, I can’t help but acknowledge the immense opportunities the college provided me. From the very first day, I was encouraged not just to excel academically but also to explore my interests in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

During my time here, I had the privilege of participating in a wide range of events that helped me grow as an individual and brought numerous laurels to the college at the national level. I am deeply grateful for the recognition I received, including the Roll of Honour, College Colour, and several prestigious awards from the National Cadet Corps (NCC). These accomplishments were not only a reflection of my hard work but also a testament to the unwavering support and encouragement that MRPD Government College provides to its students.

Giving Back to Society: The Birth of Pratigya-Ek Nayi Soch

However, as I ventured beyond the gates of MRPD Government College, I came to realize that true education is not just about personal achievement—it is about giving back to society. Inspired by this realization, I, along with a group of like-minded peers, founded Pratigya-Ek Nayi Soch, a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering students and fostering social responsibility.

Our shared vision led to a significant milestone—the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pratigya-Ek Nayi Soch and MRPD Government College, Talwara, to collaborate on student development initiatives. This partnership has enabled us to work together on various impactful projects, including internships and social campaigns that focus on cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and community engagement.

Initiatives and Internships: Creating Change Through Action

Through this collaboration, over 105 students from MRPD Government College have participated in our internship programs. Not only did these interns engage with government initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Cultural Fest 2024, but they also contributed to campaigns such as Ek Soch Plastic Parivartan Ki Aur and Zero Waste Clothing Bags. These programs have been designed to inculcate social awareness and a sense of responsibility in students, encouraging them to take action for positive change.

In the future, we hope to further this initiative by encouraging entrepreneurship among students through the Zero Waste Cloth Bags project. This will allow them to develop practical skills, create sustainable businesses, and contribute to the local economy while also promoting environmental responsibility.

A Commitment to Holistic Development

The unwavering commitment of MRPD Government College to nurturing responsible, socially aware, and skilled individuals is truly commendable. From its academic rigor to its encouragement of extracurricular excellence, the college has consistently provided an environment where students can thrive both academically and socially.

The support provided by the college is not just limited to traditional education but extends to personal growth, leadership development, and community involvement. MRPD Government College has always strived to mold students into active change-makers, not just within the walls of the college, but also in the broader community and beyond.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly believe that MRPD Government College, Talwara, deserves the highest accolades and recognition. Its dedication to shaping well-rounded, responsible, and innovative individuals is unparalleled. As an alumnus of this esteemed institution, I am incredibly proud of the profound impact it has had on my life and the lives of so many others.

I have no doubt that the college will continue to excel in its mission to provide quality education, foster innovation, and prepare future generations to face the challenges of the world. It is my honor to be a part of this legacy, and I look forward to seeing MRPD Government College shine brightly for years to come.

Thank you.

1200 Futures, One Unfinished Fight

1200 Futures, One Unfinished Fight A Parent’s Diary from BBMB DAV Public School, Talwara I never imagined I’d have to become an activist just to remain a parent. Day one, I was like every other mother and father at BBMB DAV Public School, Talwara—focused on homework schedules, exam stress, morning assemblies, and the quiet pride of seeing my child walk into a school that carried legacy, values, and trust. We believed the system was stable. We believed the institution was protected. We believed the adults in power would act like adults. Big mistake. The Shockwave: When Stability Turned into Uncertainty Without consultation, without transparency, without moral responsibility, an EOI (Expression of Interest) was floated. Just like that, the future of 1200 students was treated like a transferable asset. No parent meeting. No academic roadmap. No child-impact assessment. Just cold paperwork and backdoor intentions. That was the moment when parenting turned into resistance. Fr...

When Parents Stand Up, History Takes Notes

When Parents Stand Up, History Takes Notes This is not chaos. This is civic duty in action. As parents, we are not on the streets for drama, optics, or politics. We are here because democracy doesn’t work on autopilot—it works when citizens show up. Standing up for the future of 1200 students isn’t agitation; it’s governance from the ground. It’s collective social responsibility, full stop. Today we may be standing on roads, holding placards in the cold, answering uncomfortable questions. Tomorrow, our children will look back and know one thing clearly: when everything was upside down, their parents didn’t stay silent. We didn’t outsource courage. We showed up. That matters. Legacy isn’t built in comfort zones. There’s another hard-earned lesson here—support is not disposable. When someone extends a hand in tough times, that support deserves respect, not selective memory. In that spirit, it’s only right to acknowledge the Punjab Government, which has stood consistently with parent...
